Fatshion Faceoff: Striped Skirt

This week's Fatshion Faceoff challenge item was selected by me! I bought this skirt last month, but I had not worn it out yet. That's what I love about these Fatshion Faceoff challenges -- they push me out of my comfort zone and force me to try new things.

Anyway, I accidentally ordered the skirt in one size too big, but by the time I received it, the skirt was sold out in my size. That's how online shopping goes! Though it's too big, I can still make it work with this stretchy at-the-waist belt. I do plan on "fat hacking" it with a seam ripper to open up the waistband and tighten up the elastic for a better fit. And, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Forever 21+'s sizing has changed in the past year? I feel like I used to fit the 3X almost exclusively and now I'm fitting into the 2X better (and, no, I have not lost weight). I love their clothes, but I'm always scared of ordering from them because of the sizing.

My grandma gave me this top two or so years ago, and I don't wear it nearly as often as I'd like. I recently got rid of a bunch of clothes that I don't really wear or that aren't really my style anymore (with the help of my friend). I had completely forgotten about this top until I went through my clothes! I love the color as well as the style, and the fabric is super soft and stretchy, too.

Peacock Blue Blouse with Cut Out Shoulders: Kenneth Cole (Gifted) (Similar, Similar)
Black and White Striped Hi Low Skirt: Forever 21+ (Similar, Similar)
Black Belt: Target
Black with Stud Detailing and Rope Heel Wedges: Coconuts (via DSW) (Similar)

Black Shoulder Purse: Thrifted (Similar)
Dangle Blue Teardrops Earrings: Apt. 9 (via Kohl's) (Similar)
Floral Oversized Sunglasses: Target (Similar)

This photo is from the previous day or so, but my nails are still painted the same. I'm rather obsessed with this particular color from Essie (if you remember, I posted about it on my most recent Currently Digging piece). This is one of my go to colors for when I can't make up my mind. I think it's a perfect shade for spring and summer!

Base Coat: Turquoise & Caicos by Essie
Glitter Coat: Milani Jewel FX in Gold
Top Coat: Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

I really love this outfit I put together. Not too bad for only 3 hours of sleep, huh? Yeah, finals are killing me this week...

Check out the other lovely Fatshion Faceoff bloggers and how they style the challenge item of my choosing, a striped skirt!

    1. I love the hem of the skirt, too! It's what I was drawn to when purchasing it actually. It's so flowy when I walk...

  4. Love the outfit and nail polish!

I have the same problem with Forever21, now I just don't bother, its too much hassle sending things back and forth when other places have more consisitent sizing.

    1. Thank you! Yeah, my last order with Forever 21 had two items that were too big. I refuse to order from ASOS anymore for the exact same reason. I've never been 100% satisfied from an order, and their clothes are too expensive to have to deal with such a hassle.

  5. Aw, I've accidentally ordered a skirt the wrong size from F21+ (I wanted 1x and got a 3x), yet somehow it worked out to be ok! :D But I love this look, and the blue shirt is amazing. It's a great color on you!
